Spawners help in spawning items in Minecraft. They are structures similar to cages. Each of them has a miniature mob spinning inside that represents the mob that they spawn.
You can find spawners in the creative inventory and pick them up with the help of pick blocks. It naturally occurs in places like Dungeons, spider caves, and woodland. Minecraft allows you to quickly craft a spawner by simply using the spawn command.

Various items can be spawned by spawners. In Minecraft, you can easily obtain many items without much effort once you know how to look for them.
How To Find Spawners In Minecraft?
A spawning block is the only block with an item form that cannot be picked up by a pick block in the Java Edition’s creative inventory. Getting them requires using the “/give” command, which gives you a pig spawner by default; the mob can then be changed by placing a mob spawn egg.
“/setblock, /clone,” or “/fill”
The command can also create spawners.
In Bedrock Edition, you can pick empty spawners with pick blocks or find them in the creative inventory. Use a spawn egg on it to modify the mob that spawns.
These places generate spawners naturally, and the spawning mobs are chosen randomly:
- A Dungeon
- A dungeon thrown into the middle. The spawner may be a zombie spawner (50% chance), skeleton spawner (25% chance), or spider spawner (25% chance).
- The mineshafts
- Spider spawner in caves. A thick layer of cobwebs surrounds it.
- A woodland mansion
- Spawning spiders. Within a rarely generated secret room that is heavily covered in cobwebs. If this room does generate, it does so on the 2nd or 3rd floor. It can be visible from the windows.
- Silverfish spawner. Located in the end portal room. One per stronghold.
- Nether fortresses
- Blaze spawner.
- On fenced platforms with full-block “stairs” leading up to them. Normally two per fortress, although sometimes less may be generated.
- Bastion remnants
The magma cube spawner. A treasure room hangs beneath a bridge. These spawners are outfitted with chains.
How To Pick Up A Spawner In Minecraft?
The amount of experience a spawner gives is determined by whether it’s broken with a pickaxe or not. They do not drop anything when mined with anything else.

It is possible to mine a spawner, get one with a “blank” spawn egg, change its type, and then right-click the spawner with the spawn egg to place it and change the mob type.
You can only make one egg at a time by throwing the blank egg and item into the cauldron.
Steps to Use a Monster Spawner
1. Place the Monster Spawner
You can place a monster spawner in Minecraft PE or Windows 10 by going to the Creative Inventory menu. Using the game command, you can get one (PC/Mac) in Minecraft Java Edition.
Ensure the monster spawner is the selected item on your Hotbar once you have added it.
Your next step is to position your plus sign (+) on the block where you wish to place the monster spawner. Upon entering the game, you should see the highlighted block.
2. Watch the Spawner Activate
As soon as you select the block, you should see your monster spawner appear. Whenever you approach a spawner, you will see flames burning and a miniature version of the mob will appear inside. Here, the spawner is filled with a tiny pig.
Pigs may eventually spawn outside of the monster spawner if the conditions are right (e.g., light levels). A spawn egg can be used to change which type of mob spawns from the monster spawner.
Why Can’t I Pick Up Spawners In Minecraft?
The blocks might not be loading efficiently on your system. It may be that this is why picking up spawners is difficult. Picking up spawners requires a pick block; otherwise, they cannot be picked up.

In dungeons, it is possible to find monster spawners that spawn hostile mobs such as spiders and creepers. A miniaturized version of the mob will appear inside spawners whenever you approach them. In time, a mob will spawn outside of the monster spawner if the light conditions are right.
An item that spawns monsters can be used and placed anywhere in the game.

Can You Craft A Spawner?
The Creative Inventory menu in Creative mode in Minecraft PE and Windows 10 provides access to a monster spawner. Furthermore, you can use game commands to create a monster spawner in the PC/Mac version.
How To Make A Spawner In Minecraft
Spawning occurs when a player is within a sphere of 16 blocks from the center point of a block, i.e., 15.5 blocks from the block itself. The spawner spawns mobs as far as 4 horizontal blocks from its spawner, and as far as 1 vertical block away, effectively covering an area of 9 * 3 * 9 around it. There is a diamond shape surrounding the spawner in Bedrock Edition.
It extends four blocks on either side of it. In this range, mobs are allowed to spawn anywhere as long as it is within the spawner’s range. Further away, mobs spawn more often than closer to the spawner.
The spawn point of the mob is a fractional x-coordinate (i.e. not located on a block), but its y-coordinate is an integer. Mobs spawn horizontally with their centers anywhere within a 8*8 range, but vertically, they spawn with their legs either on the same layer as the spawner block, one block above it, or one block below it.
When building the spawner, consider using Creative Mode. Rather than building your mob spawner in Creative Mode, switch the game to Survival to reap its benefits since they are incredibly resource-intensive and fairly dangerous to build without fall protection.
When you create a game in Creative and then switch to Survival, the achievements will be disabled.
Learn how the spawner works. It is possible to create a surface on which mobs will gradually spawn by building a platform high up. The mobs will eventually end up on the platform’s slide, landing on a set of hoppers at the bottom of the slide where they will later die. You can check for loot in the chests connected to the hoppers when necessary.
Verify that you are in the right biome to capture a particular mob. If you’re trying to catch a specific type of mob (e.g., a witch), you’ll need to be in the right place for that mob to spawn (for example, witches spawn near water).
