  1. Press Cortana’s Windows key + Q hotkey.
  2. Input the keyword troubleshoot in the search box.

  4. Press the Run this troubleshooter button for the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.
  5. Then users can go through the resolutions presented by the troubleshooter. Select the Apply this fix option for the resolutions provided.

The Hardware and Device troubleshooter can fix issues pertaining to Windows devices. That troubleshooter might provide a resolution for restoring a missing webcam.

2. Turn On the Webcam in Windows 10

  1. Open Cortana in Windows 10.
  2. Enter camera settings in the search box.
  3. Click Camera privacy settings to open the window in the snapshot below.
  4. Then toggle the Allow apps to access your camera setting on if it’s off.

  9. Restart Windows after adding the webcam.

Users can restore the missing webcam in Device Manager by selecting the Add legacy option. That option opens an Add hardware wizard with which users can install devices.

5. Reset Windows 10

  1. Enter the keyword reset in Cortana’s search box.
  2. Click Reset this PC to open the window in the image directly below.
  3. Click Get Started to open the Reset this PC utility.
  4. Select the Keep my files option.
  5. Then click Next, and select the Reset option.

Some users have also confirmed that reinstalling Windows 10 restores a missing webcam. Reinstalling Windows 10 is relatively straightforward thanks to the Reset this PC utility.
