My daughter currently has a Lenovo ThinkCentre M58 7360-NS4 computer (it's an old free thing she got from school).

Đang xem: How many bits is minecraft

I'd like to get her running on FTB or Tekkit, via a server running on my PC (so we can play in the same world).

I've been trying to figure out if her PC will run Java 64-bit so we can load the necessary mods. Currently we're running FTB Lite (and it's working pretty well), but it's missing a couple of the mods that require 64-bit systems.

I can get her a new O/S (Such as Win 7) in 64-bit (edit: she's currently running Vista 32-bit), but will her PC support that?

With her birthday coming up, I'm trying to find the best solution between upgrading/ getting another machine, getting a new O/S etc.

My eventual goal is to get a server hosted so we can play wherever we are (as well as a couple other friends).

Any assistance gratefully received!

Hi mate, thanks for that, although I note it's a small-form-factor desktop (old school workstation thing). I'm reasonably sure that doesn't make a difference though!

While I couldn't find a full datasheet on the computer there was one unreliable source that stated it supported 64-bit operating systems.

If you do reinstall a 64-bit operating system you should be fine.

Your best bet to finding out would be checking if the CPU supports 64 bit, copy pasted instructions from Microsoft on how to do so.

To run a 64-bit version of Windows, your computer must have a 64-bit-capable processor. To find out if your processor is 64-bit-capable in Windows 7 or Windows Vista, do the following:

Open Performance Information and Tools by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type Performance Information and Tools, and then, in the list of results, click Performance Information and Tools.

Do one of the following:

In Windows 7, click View and print detailed performance and system information.

In Windows Vista, click View and print details.

In the System section, you can see what type of operating system you're currently running under System type, and whether or not you can run a 64-bit version of Windows under 64-bit capable. (If your computer is already running a 64-bit version of Windows, you won't see the 64-bit capable listing.)

To see whether a computer running Windows XP is capable of running a 64-bit version of Windows, do the following:

Click Start.

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

If “x64 Edition” is listed under System, your processor is capable of running a 64-bit version of Windows.

If you don't see “x64 Edition” listed, your processor still might be capable of running a 64-bit version of Windows. To find out for sure, download and run the free Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor from the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor webpage.
