how many characters can you have on one realm wow

PTR Build 29558 has added the promised increase to the number of characters per realm. Now, instead of the current 18 character limit per realm, you can create all your account”s 50 characters in the same realm.

This change was made in order to support the ever-increasing number of Allied Races and for those who”d like to keep all their characters in the same realm.

And they have yet to fix the issue of guildsizes having a max of 1000 members. Please let”s give people more room for alts on one realm but then not give them the space to have them all in the same guild.

This doesnt really help people with already 50 characters. Increase the amount of characters you can have overall to 100, thatll help.

So.. how about that 50 account cap?
This is fantastic and all, but useless if having two full servers already means that”s 40 to the account cap. o_o

Now that we have an almost finished 8.1.5 on PTR, will it be an in-depth analysis of the uncalled for and quite solid nerf in world travel, sold as the "shiny and improved portal room"? I mean, a real analysis, underlining what we lose and what we (spoiler alert- we don”t ) gain?

It”s nice for the future but a free mass transfer of characters to one realm for one account would be helpful to fix the way we”ve been dealing with the issue up until now.

This exactly. I had to create on different realms, would be nice to be able to transfer for free since we”ve been handling it until now.

Well, this makes one part of my quest for 42 max level warriors easier. Now if only I could have more than 50 characters (I just need 53 blizzard…)

Well, if they would free move all of the ones I have spread across numerous realms, that would be great.

Oh, so nice! But what does it look like on the character screen? Will it be a long list you have to scroll through?

Probably will never use all 50 slots on the same realm, but it”s a nice addition for people who happen to be incredibly invested in a single realm.

It”s nice for the future but a free mass transfer of characters to one realm for one account would be helpful to fix the way we”ve been dealing with the issue up until now.

It”s a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, it would be great for players who play more than one character and don”t want to leave their other characters behind when transferring realms, not to mention it might make the $25 price tag for such transfers a little more justifiable.

On the other hand, we have had a problem for a while where people gravitate towards the most populated realms, which is ultimately why we even need features like CRZ to make the playing experience tolerable from a multiplayer interaction standpoint on the many underpopulated realms. As it turns out, a lot of people are willing to abandon their former realm for greener pastures, suggesting the desire of the playerbase emphasizing that players play more for their own sake than the "realm community" that some like to mention. I am highly certain more would be willing to do so if they could bring all of their characters along with the ride. I ultimately don”t blame any of these players, incidentally. It was, after all, Blizzard who made realm transfers so highly accessible in the relatively distant past – the cooldown for transferring used to be months, not days.

Edit: The phenomenon I mentioned above also applies to faction changes, though for slightly different reasons (that do technically fall under the "players playing for their own sake" umbrella, I guess).

I suspect most of us have alts scattered across servers, and that very few, if any of us, would shell out to condense them all. It”s particularly frustrating for me as someone who started putting extras on a connected realm. There”s literally no tangible difference, except maybe that someone could have my same name on a connected realm (which I don”t see as a positive) between being on one realm and the other. I am NOT going to pay to put them all on one, but it would be REALLY nice not to have to switch realms to log into the newer characters. Would”ve just hit the updoot if this wasn”t a newspost, but count me among the frustrated.
