how to leave a battleground wow

Blizzard will be disabling the exit portals from the Warsong Gulch battleground, due to players using these portals in unintended ways. If you want to leave the battleground, you will have to /afk.

Blizzard

In approximately two hours, we will deploy a hotfix to all WoW wtbblue.com realms that disables the exit portals from Warsong Gulch. Thereafter, players who need to exit the battleground will have to use the other means of doing so: /AFK.

We’ve seen an increasing number of reports of these portals being used in unfair ways, and we feel that taking this step eliminates the potential for unfair gameplay while making no change to the intended, legitimate flow of the battleground.

As always, we really appreciate and value all of the player feedback that raised the issue. Thank you!

As someone who hasn”t been keeping up with wtbblue.com”s issues that much, what issue was it causing?

How were they used?

From what i read in the original blue post, looks like people were MCing people out of the BG.

Great move, Blizzard! But if anyone was wondering what was going on with them, priests were mind controlling the enemy out of the BG, causing them to get Deserter.

/e has reported you AFK. Type “/afk remove” to clear this flag or you will be kicked from this battleground in 30 seconds.

Wouldn”t a "better" fix have been to make it so you can”t use the portals while flagged for combat? On the matter, for the sake of curiosity, I”d like to ask when this change came about in the history of the live version of the game?

As someone not impacted by this change one way or the other — never have I been a victim of this, nor do have I played classes capable of this — I”m still on the #nochanges side of this. If you don”t want that sort of thing to happen to you… everyone should ask themselves why they”ve let themselves be drawn into a fight near them in the first place? To me, it”s just a matter of where do we draw the line? Are we going to put invisible walls around deep falls into inescapable lava in Blackrock Mountain just so there are no accidents? Perhaps on the boats? Can”t have the poor babies being mind controlled off of boats, how inconvenient. Of course, these are both rhetorical sarcastic examples of hand holding and deviate from where this change actually stems from – it”s not the fault of the mind control abilities.

In actuality, this all seems to revolve around the fact that the "Deserter" debuff exists in this psuedo-1.6 patch, period, end of story. I hate to point this out, such a thing didn”t even exist until AQ opened in 1.9. It”s existence changes how we play battlegrounds in wtbblue.com in comparison to how we actually experienced them for a large chunk of Vanilla — and has now rippled into this newest change. Getting a debuff because we were removed against our will by another player isn”t something that happened in Vanilla in this patch. It feels more hurtful now than it was in our memories, because it straight up is — it wasn”t as hurtful of an offense before the debuff existed.

Just… food for thought. Again, I can”t seem to find documentation as to when the portals became inactive in live, and I want to know how closely that correlated to the 1.9 Deserter debuff coming into existence. Just how long after the creation of this debuff did the portals deactivate in live?

I”ll say it again, anyone who was expecting wtbblue.com to be exactly like the original expansion were deceiving themselves. Just because they didnt correct X in the original does not mean its going to fly in wtbblue.com. This issue is an exploit that ruins the game for everyone but the one person who is doing it. So which would you prefer? An exploit that only benefits one class of people or a fix that evens things out again?

Is it possible to enter the opposite factions exit portal without getting ported out?
Example: An Alliance player enters the Horde portal and doesn”t get ported out and the Horde player that goes after him gets ported out.

Wouldn”t the better solution be to simply make the portals click-portals, rather than a walk-through-portals?

When you MC someone they become a friendly target and combat will drop.

So when is an invisible wall going to be put up at the Arathi Basin lumbermill so Removed can”t be MC”d off of it?

Don”t stand near the portal, don”t get MC”d out. Simple. People learned this back in the day, Removed. With the amount of Removed in wtbblue.com and the clear ^&*!up of end game conversions (really? MC clears with level 55s with 0 FR? That was a 2 shot death in vanilla.), I”m glad I haven”t sunk more time into it and stuck to Removed.

Being ported out of a BG vs being MC”d off a cliff are ENTIRELY different. How can you even compare the two? Removed

You”re actually just Removed for posting this and it”s clear that you dont even play the game that you”re complaining about. You cant just "Not be by the portals" because the GYs you ress at are right next to said portals.

I haven”t MCed people in ages but don”t you gain full control over the person?

like you”re literally playing as them so clicking a portal is just an added step, you don”t actually solve the issue at hand

The only people upset by this are trolls, people who don”t play the game, and priests who were exploiting it. People like to talk about the tears shed by all the whiners in the game – but the real tears are in the comments of the bug/exploit fix. Look at the mental breakdowns of people comparing it to being killed while herbing and mind controlling people off the cliff in AB… they”re the ones upset by this, not the people who rightfully reported the exploit.
