This Minecraft tutorial explains all about Shipwrecks (or sunken ships) with screenshots.
Where to Find a Shipwreck
In Minecraft, a shipwreck is a structure that spawns naturally in the game. It looks like the ruins of a sunken ship and is found in Ocean, River and Beach biomes. Shipwrecks usually spawn underwater, however in rare cases, you may find a shipwreck on land in a Beach biome.
Here is a picture of what a shipwreck looks like:
The shipwreck is made up of wood items such as oak planks, oak fence, spruce planks, spruce fence, spruce logs, and spruce doors.
Inside the Shipwreck
There are small rooms in a shipwreck where you can find different chests.
Each shipwreck can have up to 3 chests, depending on the size of the shipwreck. Small shipwrecks will only have 1 chest, whereas a large shipwreck can have all 3 chests. You can search for these chests to add amazing loot to your inventory.
Here are the different types of chests you can find in a shipwreck:
A Map Chest contains a Buried Treasure Map, papers, books, compasses, and feathers.
A Treasure Chest contains lots of valuable items such as lapis lazuli, iron ingot, gold ingot, iron nuggets, gold nuggets, emeralds, diamonds, and bottle o”enchanting.
A Supply Chest contains items such as carrots, wheat, potatoes, poisonous potatoes, pumpkins, coal, gunpowder, TNT, papers, and rotten flesh. It may also contain enchanted leather armor (enchanted leather cap, enchanted leather tunic, enchanted leather pants, or enchanted leather boots).
You can use a seed to create a world where you spawn near a Shipwreck:
