Lots of lag when opening inventory or chest

Hey guys. I”ve been experiencing some pretty serious lag when opening my inventory or opening a chest. At most times it works fine, but at others it can take 10-20 seconds or even a minute to exit or enter my inventory. I”d also like to mention that sometimes if I look down below me on far distance the game seriously lags (0-1 fps; I”m usually at over 250 on far distance). I”d appreciate if anyone could tell me what”s wrong, and if there is anything I can do to fix it. Thanks in advance for your help.

I make no promises about playing a modern game on a $2,000 Facebook machine (no offense), but maybe I can help a wee bit.

1. Install the latest Java 32-bit.
2. Install the latest Java-64-bit, if possible. (ALWAYS instal 32-bit first, because without it you can get random-crash syndrome!)
3. Allocate more RAM to Minecraft. I honestly have no idea how to do this on a Mac, but i”m sure Google can help you. Magic Launcher can do it, I know…
4. Install Optifine. It does more than graphics now, and can help fix the most random issues sometimes.
5. If the above fail to help: Delete your bin folder and re-download Minecraft. Your saved maps should be fine, but be careful anyway.

That”s all I got. Sorry.

I actually have no problem reading what he posted. Grammar is relative and changes all the time so as long as someone gets their point across, why should you care? In any case….

Most macs do not use Anti-Virus normally. For one Mac OS is a bit harder to tinker with. And number two who in their right mind would write a virus for less than 10% of the worlds computers? I could be wrong, and at least norton does make programs for Mac. (though why for the love of all that is holy anyone would use Norton is beyond me)

OP!
10.7.4 that”s Lion right?

And what is your processor? You can get it from “about this mac” as well as the version of Java and all that good stuff.

Bad news is this could simply be the buggy 1.3.2 Minecraft. I have this problem from time to time as well and I”m on a Winders 7 machine. Might be something you have to live with for a wile.

In the mean time it can”t hurt to remove minecraft, download a new .jar and start over. Just make a backup of your world first.
